A continental platform with sovereign purpose — galvanizing action, proffering solutions, and amplifying the voices of 54 African nations in the common cause of education, youth, and generational transformation. Not a programme. The infrastructure upon which programmes are built.
The New Partnership Development for Education and Youths (NEPAD_EY) is a UNESCO REF platform of collaboration, designed to galvanize stakeholders, align resources, and proffer solutions for education and youth empowerment across Africa.
“NEPAD_EY is conceived as a continental operating system — not a programme, but the infrastructure upon which transformative programmes are built, connected, and amplified.”
The platform’s role is to ensure that diverse efforts are harmonised, investments are strategically directed, and opportunities for young people are amplified in every dimension of development. Africa’s demographic trajectory makes education and youth empowerment a continental priority — NEPAD_EY ensures this is addressed through collective intelligence, shared responsibility, and coordinated solutions that endure.
Four Functions That Drive the Platform
Inspires and mobilises governments, donors, investors, civil society, and youth to commit resources, expertise, and political will to the education and youth agenda across all 54 African nations.
Identifies systemic challenges, curates evidence-based responses, and surfaces innovative models that can be tested, scaled, and shared across national and regional borders.
Elevates youth perspectives and ensures they shape policy and practice. Young people are not beneficiaries of the platform — they are its co-architects, co-designers, and co-leaders.
Connects actors across sectors and geographies to avoid duplication — transforming fragmented initiatives into coherent, scalable continental frameworks for lasting impact.
Where Leaders, Partners & Youth Converge
NEPAD_EY provides a neutral, trusted space where governments, development partners, private investors, civil society, academia, and youth leaders converge. It is a deliberate architecture of inclusion — no single actor dominates, and every voice contributes to the continental agenda.
Priorities are aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and fragmented initiatives are connected into coherent, scalable frameworks.
Priorities aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda and AU Agenda 2063.

Not siloed solutions. A coordinated continental response — one platform, one agenda, one generation.
The Four Principles That Anchor the Platform
No group, community, or nation is left behind. Every stakeholder — regardless of scale, geography, or sector — has a role to play and a place at the platform’s table.
Harnessing the comparative advantage of every stakeholder. Scientific rigour, community knowledge, political will, and private capital united in common continental purpose.
Promoting solutions that endure beyond short-term interventions — evaluated through the lens of lasting impact, institutional resilience, and generational continuity.
Young people are not a target audience — they are the platform’s purpose and most vital voice. Leaders, innovators, and partners in everything NEPAD_EY does.
“NEPAD_EY ensures that Africa’s youth priority is not addressed in silos, but through collective intelligence, shared responsibility, and coordinated solutions that transform potential into prosperity.”
