Institutional Disclaimer
& Public Notice

The Read & Earn Federation for UNESCO, known as UNESCO REF, publishes this Disclaimer in the public interest. It safeguards the integrity of the Federation, protects members of the public from impersonation and solicitation, and clarifies the formal channels through which the institution engages governments, partners, volunteers, and the wider community.

!
Critical Public Advisory

Beware of Impersonators Soliciting Funds in the Name of UNESCO REF

UNESCO REF has been made aware of individuals and entities falsely claiming partnership with, employment by, or affiliation to the Federation, in some cases requesting payments for partnership entry, volunteer enrolment, or facilitation services. UNESCO REF does not charge any fee whatsoever for institutional partnership. Where the Federation operates chargeable elements, such as the nominal Volunteer Capacity Development Kit and Identification Card issued to approved volunteers, or fees associated with specific programmes, these are handled exclusively through the Federation's official offices and verifiable institutional correspondence. The public is strongly advised to verify before transacting, and to report any solicitation made outside those channels.

Statement of Purpose

A Public Standard of Conduct

This Disclaimer constitutes the public-facing terms under which the Read & Earn Federation for UNESCO conducts its affairs and engages with the global community. It is offered in plain institutional language, without legal evasion, and in the spirit of the multilateral framework within which UNESCO REF operates. The clauses set out below apply to every visitor to this website, every prospective partner, every applicant, and every individual representing themselves in any capacity connected to the Federation.

Principal Clauses

Engagement, Authenticity, and Channels

01Partnership

Institutional Partnership Carries No Fee

UNESCO REF does not levy, request, or accept payment of any kind in exchange for institutional partnership, charter recognition, strategic affiliation, or programme entry. Every partnership engagement is processed without monetary consideration to the Federation.

Where third parties claim that a fee is required to secure access, accreditation, or partnership status, such claims are not authorised by UNESCO REF and should be regarded as fraudulent until verified through the Federation's official offices.

02Volunteers

Volunteer Application and Kit Fee

Application to any UNESCO REF volunteer programme, including the Call for Volunteers, is entirely free. No payment of any kind is required to submit an application, attend interviews, or undergo assessment.

Volunteers formally approved through the Federation's selection process pay a nominal fee covering the production and dispatch of the official UNESCO REF Volunteer Identification Card and the Volunteer Capacity Development Kit. International applicants approved for volunteer status pay the standard nominal fee plus an international dispatch surcharge to cover global courier delivery. These fees are payable only through official Federation channels following formal acceptance.

Any individual purporting to act as an intermediary, agent, or recruiter on behalf of UNESCO REF and requesting payment outside these channels is not authorised by the Federation and should be reported without delay.

03Programmes

Programme Participation Fees

Certain UNESCO REF programmes, training initiatives, capacity development cohorts, and institutional convenings carry participation fees or contributions. Where applicable, the fee schedule for each programme is published and communicated by the Federation in writing prior to enrolment.

All programme fees are settled through the Federation's official offices, with formal receipts issued under the UNESCO REF letterhead. Payments demanded outside this process, by any individual or third party, are not recognised by the Federation.

04Social Media

UNESCO REF Does Not Currently Operate Social Media

At this time, UNESCO REF does not maintain any official account on any social media platform, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, WhatsApp Channels, Telegram, YouTube, or any equivalent service. Any account, page, group, or channel bearing the UNESCO REF name, logo, or visual identity on these platforms is not authorised by the Federation.

Members of the public are urged to disregard communications, solicitations, and announcements purporting to originate from UNESCO REF on social media, and to report such accounts to the Federation for documentation and appropriate action.

05Authorised Channels

Verification Through the Official Office
